Who is the Everyday Coffee Blog
Share
I've worked within a coffee roastery for the best part of 15 years. Most days it's hard, hot, repetitive work. Coffee sacks are crazy heavy, and cleaning out the chimney from a coffee roasting machine is about as dirty and un-fun as it sounds.
But, there are so many highlights that working with coffee every day brings, like the change in seasons, bringing new crops and flavours each year.
The joy and mystery of sampling a table full of coffees from different regions all around the world and then choosing which ones to buy and roast myself.
(And then there is the bonus of being surrounded by super-talented baristas all day wanting to share coffee with you that they have just brewed).
In the past year I have moved away from big-production coffee roasting, and now run and small-batch roast, for my own business Pony Coffee Co. Moving away from the hustle and bustle of coffee has given me the time to enjoy coffee more each day.
I believe great coffee should be accessible to everyone, and if you appreciate good coffee then you should always seek it. I don't consider myself a coffee 'geek' and I have never been one to always need the latest and greatest gadgets on the market, I just enjoy coffee, it has given me a profession, and a community to belong to.
The Everyday Coffee blog is a simple chat, for the everyday person, to read and maybe learn a little about coffee, roasting and equipment.
